pollocracy

pollocracy is a term coined on May 4, 1990 in a letter published in the Ann Arbor News.
To learn about this modern political phenomenon, please go to www.pollocracy.com

where you can see the original letter introducing this word and another letter where a reader mentions A M Rothensal of New York Times writing that the media should use ethical judgement reporting the poll numbers.

Of course since that day, almost 16 years have gone by , during which the amount of POLLSTERS or Polling companie have increased trememdously. Also , the regularity of the use of these poll numbers to predict election outcome or even worse to advance the popularity of one candidate over the others.

Who knows if the numbers are correct, but we can be sure of their effect on the psyche of those involved in the political process, whether directly or indirectly.............
